A 31-year-old woman of Mwenzo in Nakonde has asked the court for dissolution of her marriage on claims that her husband is into witchcraft and refuses to have sex.
Sarah, who has filed for divorce in the Nakonde urban local court, claims that her husband, Francis, aged 38, started practicing witchcraft which has restricted him from performing the most important conjugal role since 2016.
“I left his home on 3 October,2020 and have no intentions of going back because he also bewitched my legs and admitted it before my parents after we returned from one of the witchdoctors we visited,” she said Sarah in court as her husband denied.
She also told the court that the symbol of their marriage no longer exists and is left with no choice but return to her parent’s.
Francis has however, opposed the request, saying the claims levelled against him are baseless.He told the court he will not be able to single handedly take care of their three children aged 14, 13 and 9 if their marriage is dissolved.
If the marriage is to end, the man has demanded that Sarah returns all the things she carried out of the house at the time she left.
Magistrate Peter Geza has since ordered the couple to return on May 23, 2022 with their parents when he makes the final decision on the same day.
