A few weeks ago, the city of Göttingen in Germany allowed the practice of topless swimming in its swimming pools, a measure aimed at more equality between the sexes. This measure is limited to weekends and came into force from May 1 and until the end of August.
With this decision, the city became a forerunner in that country concerning the debate on equal treatment between the sexes to be able to show one’s bare torso in aquatic leisure establishments, such as swimming pools. In Germany, most saunas are already coed and force their customers to be naked for hygienic reasons.
