DRUNKEN ZAF COLONEL CAUSES ACCIDENT

A ZAMBIA Air Force (ZAF) colonel has been charged for driving under the influence of alcohol after he rammed onto a Toyota Ipsum in his stupor along Lusaka’s Kamloops Road last evening.

Police spokesperson Rae Hamoonga identified the offender as Colonel Handima Gigi, 46, of unmarked house number off Ngwerere Road in Obama, a Director Air Traffic Services based at Zambia Air Force Headquarters.

“Police in Lusaka at Chelstone Police Station recorded a road traffic accident which occurred on May 29, 2022 around 20:00 hours in which Colonel Handima Gigi aged 46 of unmarked house number off Ngwerere Road in Obama a Director Air Traffic Services based at Zambia Air Force Headquarters, who whilst driving a Toyota Harrier registration number BAG 3243, hit into a Toyota Ipsum registration number ALX 6178 along Kamloops Road. No injuries or fatalities were recorded from the accident.

“He has since been charged with the offences of driving under the influence of alcohol and dangerous driving. He has paid the admission of guilty fines in the sums of K450 each for the two offences bringing the total amount to K900. He has been released from custody upon been issued with an official receipt,” Mr. Hamoonga said.
