UPND National Chairperson for women, Mrs Doreen Mwamba has promised that she will never let the women down, because her resolve and determination is to empower them with life changing opportunities.
And Mrs Mwamba says she has not forgotten every developmental pledge she made during campaigns, which ultimately ushered the UPND into office.
Speaking in Chipata, Eastern Province yesterday when she met party officials, Mrs Mwamba said the UPND is working tirelessly to transform the lives of Zambians, adding that their patience is not being taken for granted at all.
“This is not a love affair, but it’s a promise which we are going to fufil.We are working to ensure that we start to empower you” she said.
Mrs Mwamba said President Hakainde Hichilema has appointed an able workforce through his Ministers and Members of Parliament whose role is to deliver his vision of empowering all Zambians with decent jobs and improved livelihoods, adding that it would be unfair to say the head of state has neglected the people.
Mrs Mwamba who is also Minister of Community Development and Social Services, assured the party members that a lot has been put in place to ensure that people are empowered with various empowerment initiatives devoid of political affiliation.
“When you empower a woman, you empower a society because a woman takes care of the entire household” she said.
Mrs Mwamba reminded the women how powerful they are to change the outlook of society, and pledged to do everything within her capacity to deliver national development.
“This is the last month you are complaining because I have heard your cry. We are here to work for you.This is the contract we signed, to work for you, this is not a love affair!” She said.
Meanwhile, Mrs Mwamba has called for unity in the party in an effort to make it stronger.
She said it is important for members of the party to compliment each other, rather than jostle for positions that only divides rather than unite and strengthen the party.
