Chisanga Nkoma a rugby player who started his sports career at the OYDC Zambia – Sports Development Centre in 2013 has urged budding athletes to put more effort if they aim to play for bigger clubs or the national team.
Nkhoma who is part of the team of rugby 7s to represent Zambia at the 2022 Birmingham Commonwealth games said the Teulings Youth Sports Challenge at the OYDC has continued to produce athletes like him who are now representing the nation at competitive games such as the commonwealth games.
He says going to this year’s commonwealth games is an achievement in his sports career and vowed to put his level best to help the team win against their competitors.
And, rugby players who were at the OYDC Zambia on Saturday morning for the Teulings Youth Sports Challenge sent their best wishes to Nkhoma and his teammates as they prepare for the games.
One of the young athletes Nashon Phiri said it was motivating to see someone who started playing rugby from OYDC in 2013 is now making massive headways with the rugby 7s team.
Several teams below the age of seventeen spent their day competing with those outclassing others standing a chance of competing during the grand finale at the end of the sporting season.
Apart from rugby young athletes participated in boxing which was equally organized on Saturday with teams from selected clubs battling it out for supremacy.
