HH GETS HIGH GOVERNANCE RATING
President Hakainde Hichilema has been rated at over 90% in terms of governance excellence so far.
This is according to Ndola Diocese Association for Diocesian Clergy President, Fr Elias Muma, who says President Hichilema has set a very encouraging governance tone since assuming office almost a year ago.
Speaking in an interview, Fr Muma who is also Kitwe’s St. Mbanga Parish Priest said President Hichilema, apart from setting Zambia on a good socioeconomic trajectory, has also restored investor confidence, which is a prerequisite for national development and economic transformation.
“It’s about the character also because the President has set a very good tone so far and we are hoping for the best” Fr Muma further said.
And Fr Muma has applauded the New Dawn government’s move in the short period, to employ 30,000 teachers, adding that the move directly speaks to fundamentals that are required to set the country on a good path towards attaining not only literacy levels but also development.
Fr. Muma said the free education policy plus the addition of teacher deployment is the move in the right direction which should be supported by all well-meaning Zambians.
He notes that the move also speaks to the creation of wealth and sustainable jobs in the country and exposes the good ‘Presidential character’, which is needed to take the country forward.
“That is where character comes in. If you have worked hard in your entire life, you can still work hard even when you assume public office’ Fr Muma observed.
He said his rating of President Hichilema compares him to other governance strides in terms of integrity restoration that have been made in the country’s history.
On the fight against corruption, Fr Muma encouraged the New Dawn Administration not to relent, but continue making headways in that regard in order for the country to be restored back to good governance system.
