Zambia Athletics National team assistant coach Kezzias Nyendwa has declared his four athletes ready for the U20 World Athletics Championship to be staged in Cali, Colombia from 1 to 6 August 2022.
The athletes are Blessings Miyoba (100m 200m), Joshua Mphanza (400m), Martin Mwauluka (800m) and Sitali Kanene (100m 200m).
They’re currently training at Heroes Stadium and camped at OYDC in Lusaka.
“Preparation is going on well and I am confident these athletes will come back home with medals. If you look at these athletes they’re also part of the athletics team that will represent Zambia at the Region 5 games to be hosted by Malawi in December” coach Nyendwa said.
Athletics is one of the sports disciplines in Zambia that has seen an impressive number of athletes showcasing their prototypical skills and subsequently minting medals at major competitions.
The 2022 World Athletics U20 Championships, also known as the World Junior Championships, will be an international athletics competition for athletes qualifying as juniors, which will be held from 1 to 6 August 2022 at the Estadio Olímpico Pascual Guerrero in Cali, Colombia.
