EDGAR LUNGU HAS ADEQUATE SECURITY-GOVT

Government has contradicted reports that former president Edgar Lungu has inadequate security, insisting that the former president is provided for in accordance with the law.

Unknown people yesterday broke into the house belonging to the former President Edgar Lungu and went away with two Television sets worth K66 000, a situation which raised concerns among stakeholders, questioning if the security provided to the former Head of State was adequate.

But speaking during Millennium radio’s the Interview program this morning, Ministry of Information and Media director spokesperson Thabo Kawana said Mr. Lungu is entailed to three police officers during the day while at night paramilitary officers from VIP protection unit are deployed at his residence.

Mr. Kawana says government is saddened with the break in but has however cautioned people against making speculations on the matter so that the police can do thorough investigations.

Meanwhile Green Party leader Peter Sinkamba has called on President Hakainde Hichilema to call for a commission of inquiry to ascertain what transpired for a former Head State Security to be breached.
