*GOVERNMENT ALLOCATES 3.7 BILLION KWACHA TO SOCIAL CASH TRANSFER PROGRAMMES IN 2023*

Government has increased expenditure to the Social Cash Transfer Programme (SCT),by 19.8% in the 2023 National Budget.

This means that K3.7 Billion will be spent on the programme next year, to improve the welfare of the vulnerable across the country.

Finance and National Planning Minister, Mr. Situmbeko Musokotwane announced the development during the 2023 budget presentation.

He said Government next year, will also scale up other social protection programmes with the Keeping Girls in School (KGS) programme, getting K133.5 Billion allocation while K1.2 Billion has been allocated to the Food Security Pack (FSP) to empower vulnerable but viable farmers.

Government also envisages to target over 1 Million vulnerable households onto various social protection programmes being implemented by the Ministry of Community Development and Social Services.
