*CHIBWANSE WOMEN’S CLUB HOLDS MATEBETO TO HONOUR GOVERNMENT FOR IMPROVING LIVES*

Chibwanse Women’s Club has appreciated government through a ‘Matebeto’ for making positive strides in improving the welfare of women in the country.

Matebeto, is a Zambian traditional way of saying ‘thank you’ to appreciate someone for their good works. To do this, a variety of traditional foods and drinks are prepared for a feast, where those appreciating go and deliver the food stuffs.

The Matebeto was done in style, as there were gifts that were presented in form of live goats.

Republican Vice President, Ms. Mutale Nalumango, the Ministry of Community Development and Social Services Minister Honourable Doreen Mwamba MP. and Ministry of Tourism Minister, Honourable Rodney Sikumba MP., were honoured through this ceremony, in appreciation for making positive contribution to the country’s development.

Gracing the event held at the Lusaka Museum, Director Community Development under the Ministry of Community Development and Social Services, Mrs. Patricia Muyamwa said it was such an honour for organizations such as Chibwanse Women’s Club to appreciate efforts being made by government in various ways.

She said that the New Dawn Government led by the Republican President, Mr. Hakainde Hichilema will continue to honour its objectives of making livelihoods of the people of Zambia better.

Mrs. Muyamwa took advantage of the Matebeto ceremony to speak to the women, youth and the elderly present, on the various empowerment programmes that government through the Ministry of Community Development and Social Services offer.

She said the Food Security Pack (FSP), Social Cash Transfer (SCT), Village Banking, Community Self-Help Initiatives, Supporting Women’s Livelihoods (SWL) and the Skills Training Courses were some of the many programmes that women, men and the youth should take advantage of to improve their lives.

She said women were very instrumental in shaping society and encouraged them to continue being innovative and take advantage of the conducive environment to better themselves.

And Chibwanse Women’s Club Chairlady, Ms. Emelda Kawambale said the organization saw it fit to appreciate the many works government was doing for the people of Zambia through such an important and symbolic way such as Matebeto.

Ms. Kawambale said it was everyone’s responsibility to support Government so that it fulfils its mandate of taking development to all parts of the country without leaving anyone behind.
