THIRTY million United States dollars was borrowed during the PF administration for the construction of the Lusaka-Ndola dual carriageway but no works were done.
President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA says his administration is ready to recover the money that was borrowed for the road and channel it to developmental projects.
The President says the money will be recovered together with the 32.8 million dollars which was borrowed for the Frederick Chiluba University in Luapula, whose works were equally not executed.
And President HICHILEMA has urged Vedanta Resources to accelerate the repayment of the 240 million U.S dollar debt owed to creditors.
The President says this will allow for the resumption of full operations at the Konkola Copper Mine –KCM.
President HICHILEMA says once the debt is resolved, KCM will significantly contribute to strengthening Zambia’s mining sector and economy.
He said this when he swore in CRUSIVIA HICHIKUMBA as Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Commerce, Trade and Industry, RINGO ZULU as Internal Auditor and NSANDI MANZA as Accountant General.
Meanwhile President HICHILEMA has urged the appointees to focus on changing the work culture in their respective departments.
