Olympiafrica Teqball Club emerged overall winners of the 2022 Teqball tournament after winning three categories from five.
The team won the mixed doubles, girls’ singles and girls’ doubles to emerge victorious.
OYDC teqball club came out second after winning two categories in boys’ singles and boys’ doubles.
Nine clubs comprising of Zambezi, FOGS Community Foundation, Monze, Kabwe, Mansa, Samfya, Alfred Foloko Foundation, Olympiafriica and OYDC the host took part in the two days national tournament.
All winners walked away with prize money, medals and trophies and Teqball Federation of Zambia president Dickson Jere urged team leaders to consider enrolling more players so that when the national team is formed players can now start representing Zambia at the Africa Championship and the National Youth Sports Festival (NYSF) organized by the Ministry of Youth, Sport and Arts.
During the medal presentation, one of the youngest players of the tournament was gifted with shoes by Teqball Federation president Dickson Jere and OYDC Zambia Chief Executive Officer Dr Fredrick Chitangala.
And Teqball Federation of Zambia general secretary Boniface Kambikambi implored teams which did not reign supreme not to relent as they go back home stating that each player who participated is a winner and will help with the growth of teqball in Zambia.
Meanwhile, jubilation characterized the OYDC multipurpose hall when team Olympiafrica and OYDC were declared winners in their respective categories.
The two teams which also participate in the Teulings Youth Sports Challenge usually battle it out during weekend games and proved to teams from other provinces that their constant training and dedication have yielded the intended results by scooping different categories.
