WHILE several of his fellow students are dropped at Institutions of learning in posh cars by their parents and guardians, Jimmy Mutambo cycles from Kafue to Lusaka every day to attend lectures due to lack of transport money to enable him get on a bus.
Jimmy, a second year Biomedical Engineering student at Evelyn Hone College leaves his home at 05:30 hours, cycling a distance of 45 km in order to make it for lessons at 08:00 hours during week days.
In an exclusive interview with Kafue Times, Jimmy narrates how hard it has as been for him cycling to Lusaka every day in order to achieve his dream of becoming a Biomedical Engineer.
“I leave home around 05:30 hours in order for me to make it for class 08:00 hours. At times I’m late for lectures and I’m sent away which negatively affects my academic work”
At 16:00 hours, Jimmy starts off his journey back to Kafue and is expected to report for work at 18hours till 04:00hours as he prepares to get to Class.
Jimmy says he is unable to find accomodation in Lusaka as he has to report for work every day in the evening.
He is now appealing for assistance from well wishers to help him raise money for his tuition fees and transport.
