South Africa has taken the lead as the African country with a lot of medals minted at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.
A check on www.birmingham2022.com as of Tuesday 02 August South Africa had (5) gold, (3) silver, and (4) bronze making it a total of twelve medals minted so far.
Nigeria takes the second spot on the African side with (2) gold, (2) silver and (2) bronze medals making it a total of six while Uganda has minted only (1) gold medal.
The games have remained highly competitive as African countries continue to fight for supremacy with others having not minted any medal from the time the games commenced in Birmingham.
Meanwhile, Australia is taking the lead in the medal standings with a total of (71) medals (31) gold, (20) silver and (20). Hosts England has (56) medals i.e (21) gold, (23) silver and (12) bronze.
