3 DEAD, 6 INJURED IN SOUTHERN PROVINCE ACCIDENT
Three people have died while six others have been injured in a road traffic accident in Silwili area between Chisekesi and Pemba in Southern Province.
And government says it has learnt with sadness of a tragic road traffic accident that claimed the lives of three Malawian nationals and left six others injured.
Chief government spokesperson Chushi Kasanda said in a statement to ZNBC that two of the three Malawian nationals died on the spot while the other died at Monze General Hospital.
Ms Kasanda says the accident occurred yesterday around 11:00 hours when the bus they were travelling in from Lusaka to Choma had a tyre burst and overturned.
Ms Kasanda, who is also minister of Information and Media, says the three are part of a team of nine Malawian nationals who arrived in the country four days ago to undertake a bench-marking study tour of how Zambia was managing its medical logistics and supply systems.
She says the delegation had on Wednesday, 10th August, 2022 visited the Zambia Medicines and Medical Supplies Agency (ZAMSA) and were on their way to Choma to visit the medical hub when the three met their fate.
The minister further says Government and the people of Zambia convey their deepest condolences to the Government and the People of the Republic of Malawi and families on the tragic loss.
She also says government wishes the injured a quick and full recovery.
