According to The Standard, President William Ruto is pushing for higher savings and wants to reduce take-home pay by up to 6%.
Workers who are already struggling with the high cost of living and hefty taxes will ultimately be affected by this change.
Earlier on Thursday, October 27, at State House, President Ruto met with lawmakers from the Kenya Kwanza Alliance to discuss the issue.
In place of the present Sh200 NSSF fee, the MPs decided to create legislation that would raise the NSSF contribution requirement to 6% of a person’s salary.
A nation with a saving culture is something the president is passionate about. He said the 6% from revenues will make a significant difference in enhancing the Workers, however, are already burdened by high PAYE taxes, the National Hospital Insurance Fund, and loans, particularly Helb loans, while others are feeling the effects of the high cost of living.
